In November 2024, I taught a few animation and drawing themed workshops aimed at kids and teens as a part of MarionLIFE Youth. This was a fantastic experience! I structured the short lesson around teaching them how to navigate around the free drawing program called Krita in one afternoon, as well as to challenge their character pose drawing skills with prompts.

My Art Philosophy

One of my fondest childhood memories was spending the weekend scribbling away on scrap paper at our holiday home besides the Murray River. We had no internet out there in the 2000s! I repeat, no internet! Just a stack of paper, pens and a head full of dreams. This is how I learnt the joys of drawing, which has stuck with me for life!

My drawing style is strongly influenced by manga/anime as well as Western cartooning traditions. I also bring my years of work experience as a storyboard artist for Netflix kids shows, as well as a boundless love of fictional characters, into my workshops.

I believe teaching drawing equips kids (of all ages) with a life skill to to express themselves and never be bored. I'm fairly new to teaching as of 2024 and only started out with a few sessions just to see how much I enjoyed it. Since then, I am eager to craft new lesson plans!
