Here’s a small dump of some illustrations from some months ago. I love making up characters, but trying to create mood with light and color is another challenge. I would like to achieve a sorta cinematic feel with my illustrations someday (although at the same time I just love the simple elegance of line drawings as well)
On another update, I’m making rapid progress on my own personal animated film project. Its taken a lot of sweat and tears to do the amount of animation Iv’e done on it so far, but I still have a long way to go till I’m really happy with it. I’d love to share gifs once it gets closer to being finished, cant estimate when I’ll be done with it, but keep an eye on this blog!
Here’s a assortment of pages from my recently finished June to July sketchbook, it’s a mix of observational + imagination drawings as usual. Sketching is no doubt where I feel the most free when making art, there’s something really exhilarating about using just lines. I don’t think ill ever grow tired of sketching with a 0.5 uniball pen. I fill up hundreds of pages like these so at least I can dump a few here.
I did some art this may for the ‘Mermay’ challenge. After a few days I think I met my mermaid drawing quota haha. I like participating in internet challenges like this , it really reminds you it’s to find the time to make some personal art every day.
Saw this monthly meme-thingo going around and decided It’d make a decent 2016 retrospective. I can sum up this year by saying…storyboarding on fun projects is a blessing and I have to keep pinching myself to remind myself I actually get to do it for a job. I’m cutting 2016 some slack here, because it was pretty nice to me. 🙂
I survived Inktober! If you dont know what that is, Inktober is just a challenge to do an inked drawing and post it online for every day of October. It was my first time committing to do it every day and to a consistent size. I ended up doing them all in my Strathmore recycled paper sketchbook. (which isn’t even meant for ink, but whatever its one of my favorite sketchbooks)
I themed them all to ‘demons’, so stuff like youkai and stuff count as demons my book. I might make something out of my favorite ones, I’ve always wondered if people have any interest in adult coloring books? 😉
